Cross Country Season Review
Petoskey, MI – The 2025 Men’s & Women’s Cross Country teams wrapped up another successful season. This year included many highlights such as
Hosting our first ever home meet
- The Timberwolves were given the honor of hosting the MCCAA Northern Conference Championship this year and with the help of many volunteers and a dedicated coaching staff it was a great success. Hosted at Camp Petosega, the seven teams of the MCCAA came together on a perfect running and spectating day to see the teams compete.
- Three Timberwolves earned All-Northern Conference Honors at this race. Kendra Couturier (Lake Leelanau/Lake Leelanau St. Mary), Sydney Feagan (Harbor Springs/St. Michaels) and Dakota Taylor (Naubinway/Engadine).
Every team member set a new Personal Record
- Thanks to the student-athletes dedication and the coaching regiment every Timberwolf saw personal success and growth. The men all set 8K personal records – and then beat them again during the final race of the season. Some members of the team even improved multiple times over during the course of the season on their PR.
- JT Greenier (Charlevoix/Boyne Falls) improved by 2 and a half minutes in a full calendar year when he clocked in at 35:12 during the MCCAA/Region XII Championship in Goodells, MI.
- Sam Rahilly (Newberry/Newberry) & Brady Bearss (Boyne City/Boyne City) improved steadily throughout the season shaving almost 3 minutes from their first 8K race in August to the finale in October. Rahilly broker his own record three times this season while Bearss made the improvement in four different races.
- Kincade Holt (St. Ignace/LaSalle) & Sebastian Hornibrook (Petoskey/Home School) helped the team scores greatly this season finishing 2nd & 3rd on the team alternatively. They each took two minutes off their times during their freshman campaign and Holt ended the season with a 30:26 8K PR while Hornibrook set his at 30:14.
- Dakota Taylor was the consistent leader of the Pack for the Timberwolves. He started the season off strong in his first collegiate 8K race with a time of 29:13 and by the Regional Championship he was down a full minute crossing the finish line at 28:13 and earning a trip to the NJCAA DII National Championship.
- On the Women’s side the runners continue at a 5K level, similar to their high school races. For the sophomores their training last off season, track season and over the summer proved incredibly fruitful and the freshman made great strides under Coach Rod & Coach Andy’s periodization.
- Vada Finch (Rogers City/Rogers City) came in strong and started the season breaking her record from high school during the Skippers Invitational when she ran a 23:58.
- Madilyn Tornes (Dorr/Wayland Union) did double duty this season, playing for both the Women’s Volleyball team and running for the Women’s Cross Country team. Her PR came during her final race of the season when she crossed the finish line at 23:56.
- Sakura Springborn (Harbor Springs/Home School) steadily improved and had her best race during the MCCAA Championship race when she finished with a 23:31 personal record.
- Sophomores Sydney Feagan and Kendra Couturier had great success all season from being named All-Northern Conference to qualifying for and competing in the National Championship. Personally, they both set a new PR during our home hosted MCCAA Northern Conference Championship. A few weeks later they moved the needle ever more during the Jayhawks Invitational and then with everything they could muster at the MCCAA/Region XII Championship they both qualified for the National Championship with their best times.
Timberwolves run at NJCAA DII National Championship.
- Three runners continued the success and tradition of North Central Michigan College runners competing at the largest stage by qualifying for and runner in the NJCAA DII National Championship.
The team moves into their off-season and starts the transition to prepare for the Outdoor Track season this spring.
