Three Runners Compete at National Championshiop
Fort Dodge, IA – While running in the snow is not a new feat for members of the Timberwolves Cross Country team, this is the first time any of the runners have been in snow this season. The 2025-26 Timberwolves Cross Country season has been marked by exceptionally good weather. A few races in excessive heat, but nothing the likes of what the runners had to finish the season in Iowa.
Competing against in the best in the country, Dakota Taylor (Naubinway/Engadine) represented the Men’s Cross Country team at the NJCAA DII Cross Country National Championship. Taylor finished 148th (out of 344) with a time of 30 minutes and 1 second in the 8K race. This finished placed him in the top 43% of runners at the meet.
The DII Women’s National Championship was the last race of the day on the snow-soaked course, after five other national championships were completed (DIII Men/DIII Women, DI Men/D1 Women & DII Men).
Kendra Couturier (Lake Leelanau/Lake Leelanau St. Mary) finished 101st out of 321 runners with a time of 22:06. This placed her in the top 30% of all runners. Couturier made significant gains from her race at the National Championship a year ago where she finished 164th.
Sydney Feagan (Harbor Springs/St. Michaels) crossed the finish line with a time of 22:25, landing her in 124th place. With 23 finishers between Couturier and Feagan in 19 seconds showcasing how tight the competition is at this level.
