Volleyball to Host Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves Quad

Petoskey, MI – The NCMC Women’s Volleyball team (13-8, 5-5) will be hosting the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves Quad this weekend in Petoskey Plastics Arena. This is the third annual tournament sponsored by our local Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza.

Right in time for peak fall colors, the Timberwolves will welcome some tough competition into the gym as they will face off against Kankakee Community College (15-14), Milwaukee Area Technical College (26-7) and St. Clair County Community College (18-4, 9-0).

Game Previews

vs Kankakee Community College

Friday’s match will be the first time the two schools have faced one another ever. Kankakee & North Central have both faced the same opponents this season in: Macomb CC and Spoon River College.

The Timberwolves defeated Spoon River College 3-1 during the Opening Weekend Tournament. Kankakee has faced Spoon River College twice this season, splitting the outcomes with the most recent result on October 4th being a 3-0 victory.

Against Macomb CC both teams have victories this season in five-set matches.

vs Milwaukee Area Technical College

NCMC Women’s Volleyball will face off against the MATC Stormers for the first time on Saturday, October 18th in the morning. They have both faced and defeated common opponents this season in Lake Michigan College, Spoon River College and Bay College.

vs SC4

The final game in the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves Quad will be the current MCCAA Eastern Conference #1 vs North Central Michigan College. The Skippers and Timberwolves last played each other on September 13th at the SC4 Skippers Quad #2 where North Central won 3-1. It was a highly competitive game with two sets going into extra points. Set scores: 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 26-24.

Tournament Format:

A four-team tournament (quad) will be played over the two-date period with a Champion being crowned based upon the overall record.

  • Tie-Breakers
    • If two teams are tied:
      • Head to head result
    • If three teams are tied:
      • Head to head results among tied teams
      • Head to head point differential among tied teams
      • Overall point differential among tied teams
      • Overall point differential among all teams

Games will follow the outlined schedule with at least a minimum of 20-minute warm up, using the NJCAA National Championship warm up routine, between games. Longer warm ups will be permissible if time allows.

               20 minutes warm up:

  • 2 minutes shared stretching & coin toss
  • 4 minutes visiting team
  • 4 minutes home team
  • 5 minutes visiting team
  • 5 minutes home team

An All-Tournament team will be selected by the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves tournament committee. The All-Tournament team will be composed of 6 players plus one tournament MVP. Players will be chosen with positions, statistics and overall impact as selection criteria.

Team stats will be requested by the host institution following the games for assistance in the All-Tournament team selection.

Referees and Certified Line Judges will be assigned by the MCCAA Northern Conference Assignor and be paid for by the host institution.

All matches will be livestreamed on North Central’s webpage using the HUDL assist camera. No outside livestreaming is permissible. All game film will be share with teams at the conclusion of each day. Coaches may request to film their own matches and place a tripod at the designated areas on the track.
